Kedarnath Devotees to Get Enough Hot Water

Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan on Saturday announced that pilgrims visiting the re-developed Kedarnath township during this year’s Chardham Yatra will be assured of ample hot water and upgraded guidance facilities. To meet long-standing demands amid the region’s freezing temperatures, Bardhan said officials have been instructed to provide hot water on demand and maintain rigorous cleanliness between the temple complex and the Aastha Path along the Saraswati riverbank. “Hot water is a prime need for devotees who often stand in queues for hours in acute cold,” he explained during a field inspection. Bardhan also confirmed the completion of a Bailey Bridge at the confluence of the Mandakini and Saraswati rivers, which will ease pilgrim movement within the new township developed after the 2013 disaster. Starting April 30, LED digital signage screens will be installed on rain-shelter walls along Aastha Path. These displays will guide visitors to medical aid stations, convenience centres, eateries, help desks, and other essential facilities. “Pilgrims will have no dearth of hot water this season, and the LED screens will ensure they can easily locate all government installations in Kedarnath,” Bardhan added.
