Vijayawada: Minister for industries T.G. Bharat has urged industrialists to invest in Andhra Pradesh and become part of its development.Speaking at the ‘India Steel – 6th International Exhibition and Conference’ in Mumbai on Friday, organised jointly by the Union Ministry of Steel and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the minister highlighted the presence of representatives from major steel companies both from India and abroad. He reaffirmed his commitment to attracting investments to AP. The minister also presided over a round-table conference titled ‘Sun Rise Andhra Pradesh – Immense Investment Opportunities’ and held one-on-one discussions with representatives from major companies. Bharat emphasised that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, during his tenure as Chief Minister of combined Andhra Pradesh, had developed Hyderabad city into a major hub, and now he is working towards a similar transformation for Andhra Pradesh. He claimed that in the last 10 months, AP has attracted an investment of ` 8.5 lakh crore under the ‘CBN brand’. Referring to the proposed ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel Plant at Nakkapalli Mandal in Anakapalli District, the minister stated that the project, costing Rs 1,47,162 crore, will be developed in two phases and will have an integrated steel plant with a capacity to produce 17.8 million metric tonnes of steel. Union Minister of state for major industries and steel Bhupathi Raju Srinivasa Varma, steel joint secretary Sanjay Roy, AP industries secretary N. Yuvaraj, and other dignitaries were present.
