Adilabad: A fire on Satavahana University’s Karimnagar campus on Thursday afternoon gutted the room storing students’ records before firefighters brought the blaze under control by midnight.Sources said dry leaves on the ground ignited in the high temperatures and spread to the adjacent records room. Two fire tenders were dispatched promptly, preventing the fire from reaching other buildings.Vice-chancellor Prof. U. Umesh Kumar inspected the damage on Friday and assured students that all documents had been previously scanned and securely backed up. “No student data is lost; digital copies are safe,” he said. He also praised the firefighting teams for protecting the campus peacock population, confirming that no birds were harmed. University authorities are now assessing the damage and reviewing fire-safety measures to avert future incidents.
