In an industry built on stories, sometimes the most powerful ones are lived off-screen. Actor Surya Sharma, who recently became a father, was overwhelmed when his longtime mentor and producer Sameer Nair gifted his newborn son a gold replica of the iconic chain Surya wore as Rinku Atwal in Undekhi.The beautiful gift left Surya speechless. “That chain became such a big part of Rinku’s identity; it carried a certain weight. I never imagined it would come back into my life in this way,” he says. “Sameer sir has always looked out for me. He believed in me when most people didn’t. This gift… it’s not just for my son. It’s a reminder of where I started and everyone who stood by me.”The chain, originally part of Surya’s character’s look in the gritty thriller series, is now a family heirloom in the making. “When I held that tiny chain in my hands, I got emotional. My son will grow up not just knowing his father played Rinku but that someone believed in his father enough to pass on a symbol of that journey,” Surya adds.Surya has often referred to Sameer Nair as a guiding force in his life, and this only reaffirmed that bond. “He’s more than a mentor and he’s like my son’s godfather. He’s shaped my career, but more than that, he’s shown up for me as a human being. There are very few people in life who go all out to back talent. He is one of them. That is what makes him the visionary he is,” Surya says.
