BJP disowns MP Nishikant Dubeys' remarks on CJI, asserts respect for judiciary

NEW DELHI: Hours after BJP Lok Sabha MP Nishikant Dubey made a defamatory statement about the Chief Justice of India on Saturday, the Bharatiya Janata Party swiftly distanced itself from the remarks. Taking to X, BJP national president JP Nadda categorically stated that the party had nothing to do with what the two MPs—Nishikant Dubey and Dinesh Sharma—had said about the judiciary. Nadda emphasised that the BJP disassociated itself from the statements made by Dubey and Sharma regarding the judiciary and the Chief Justice of the country. He said that these statements were their personal opinions, adding, “The BJP neither condones nor supports such statements. The BJP dismisses these statements outright.” He further stated, “The Bharatiya Janata Party has always respected the judiciary, has gladly accepted their orders and suggestions because as a party, we believe that all the courts of the country, including the Supreme Court, are integral to our democracy and form a strong foundation for the protection of the Constitution.” Nadda also directed both MPs, as well as everyone in the party, to refrain from making such statements. “I have directed both of them and everyone not to make such statements,” Nadda asserted.
