Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh Federation of Telugu Churches, in collaboration with various Christian organisations in Vijayawada, held the ‘Run for Jesus’ peace rally on Saturday. Thousands participated, commemorating the resurrection of Christ with devotion and unity. Bishops T Joseph Raja Rao (Catholic Diocese) and T George Cornelius (Krishna-Godavari CSI Diocese) said the rally spread the message of peace from the risen Christ. The event was flagged off near St Paul’s Cathedral at Benz Circle by Bishop Raja Rao, Monsignor Muvvala Prasad, CSI Bishop Cornelius, Rev Pastor Salluri Jayakumar Babu and Rev Pastor Alluri Vishwaprasad. They highlighted the rally’s growth—from 30 locations in 2011 to 600 centres across Telugu states—symbolising Christian unity. With rising attacks on Christians, the bishops urged the faithful to remain united. The rally passed through major city roads and concluded at St Paul’s Basilica near the State Guest House.
