TIRUPATI: A swift response from Ramachandrapuram police saved the life of a third-year medical student who attempted suicide near Rayala Cheruvu in Tirupati district on Thursday night. According to the police, the 21-year-old student, Kumar (name changed), contacted fellow students, expressing his intent to die by suicide. Upon receiving the alert, his peers immediately informed the Ramachandrapuram police. Within 20 minutes, two teams led by IPS trainee officer B. Hemanth located the student and intervened in time. Tirupati district superintendent of police (SP) V. Harshavardhan Raju commended the personnel involved in the rescue. Police provided preliminary counselling to the student and later handed him over to his parents. The student’s family expressed their gratitude to the police for their timely action.
