YSRC with Muslims on Waqf Amendment Bill, says Nani

Vijayawada:Former minister Perni Venkataramaiah alias Nani on Tuesday reaffirmed YSR Congress’ unwavering support to Muslim community in filing a petition in the Supreme Court against the Waqf Amendment Bill.He lashed out at the TD-Jana Sena-BJP alliance, holding them directly responsible for the passage of the bill in parliament. He pointed out that the alliance supported the legislation but the coalition partners are now being hypocrites by participating in protests against the bill.Nani slammed the Telugu Desam Party for its double standards. He asked alliance leadership whether the Waqf Bill could have passed without the votes of TD and Jana Sena MPs, the very leaders who helped Narendra Modi become Prime Minister. The former minister protested against the discrimination in administration of religious places. He emphasised that while non-Hindus are barred from temple boards, non-Muslims can be appointed to Waqf boards as per the amendment bill, which is unjust and unacceptable.Nani dared Chandrababu Naidu and Nara Lokesh to move a resolution in the assembly supporting the Waqf Bill if they truly stand by it.Condemning the irresponsible and unfortunate politics being played by the coalition government, the former minister pointed out that despite only a two per cent increase in tax revenues and a 42.78 per cent drop in capital investments, the coalition government is paradoxically showing that the state’s GSDP ranking is has risen to second place nationally.Nani underlined that this only points to the current government preparing to take on a massive debt.
