Hyderabad: A woman’s lover gave Rs.5 lakh supari to kidnap and kill her husband in Khammam district as he became an obstacle in their relationship. The police arrested the contract killers and remanded them to judicial custody. The police arrested the woman’s lover identified as Konduri Ramanjaneyulu (34), an owner cum earthmover operator, Danthala Venkata Narayana alias Venkat (31), a car driver and resident of Barugudem village of Khammam, Pagadala Vijay Kumar alias Chanti (30) and Vemula Krishna (21), both motorcycle mechanics and Burri Vijay (23), a decoration worker. All the arrested persons were residents of Khammam. The police are yet to arrest the woman in the case. Both the woman’s husband Thota Dharma and Ramanjaneyulu were residents of Survanapuram of Mudigonda mandal in the district. Following a series of discussions with the woman, Ramanjaneyulu decided to eliminate her husband offering Rs.20 lakh as supari to Venkat. He paid Rs.5 lakh after Venkat introduced his friend Vijay, who is a rowdy-sheeter. As per the plan, the accused kidnapped Dharma from a dhaba in Dansalapurma village on March 12 and took him to an isolated place. The accused then made a video call to Ramanjaneyulu and showed the face of Dharma to get confirmation before executing the plan, Khanapuram Haveli police station Inspector Bhanu Praskash said. A few minutes later, Venkat and others started calling Ramanjaneyulu for payment. As Ramanjaneyulu failed to respond to their calls, the accused threatened Dharma and forced him to pay Rs.1.50 lakh online. They let him off after collecting cash and his gold ring. Dharma approached the police on April 11 stating that he was facing threat from unidentified persons. The police booked a case and took up the investigation. Based on a tip-off, the police raided a mango farm in the district and arrested all the five persons. Two knives, an air gun, Rs.90,000 in cash, mobile phones and the car used for kidnapping were seized from the possession of the arrested persons.
