NIZAMABAD: In a major break, the Velpur police arrested 10 village development committee(VDC) members in Venkatapur village in Velpur mandal for dismantling the house of Bachu Gangadhar, a toiler. Citing space for a primary health centre in the village, the VDC members forcibly dismantled the house of Gangadhar, which is near to the PHC. In two spells, the VDC members dismantled the house.Commissioner of Police P.Sai Chaitanya directed Armoor division police officers for serious action against the VDCs for illegal activities in villages. Bachu Gangadhar lodged a complaint with the Velpur police stating that the VDC members threatened him and used filthy language when he was on Hanuman Deeksha. After investigation, Velpur police arrested the accused.The arrested persons are: former Sarpanch Rikka Mahesh, 43, Donthu Ramesh Goud, 35, driver, Dhanarekula Rakesh, 36, Rikka Anandam, 55, Gudelli Muthenna, 60, Thoparam Ramdas, 52, Macharla Narsa Reddy, 51, Anugu Mohan Reddy, 53, Rikka Rajeshwer, 47, Anugu Narsa Reddy, 48, of Venkatapur village in Velpur mandal. Velpur SI B.Sanjeev arrested all the accused and sent them to judicial remand.The complainant Bachu Gangadhar said that 30 years ago government land allotted for him for residence. His family lived there for the last three decades and recently moved to new house. Developing a grudge in this regard, few people threatened to vacate the house, Bachu Gangadhar said. On the other hand, VDC members argued that village elders favoured Bachu Gangadhar in getting the house site 30 years ago and now it is required for PHC.
