Unseasonal rains wreak havoc in Mahabubabad and Mulugu

Warangal: Unseasonal rains have brought distress to farmers. On Monday night, hailstorms and strong winds battered Mahabubabad and Mulugu districts, causing severe damage to paddy, mango, and papaya crops. Farmers suffered significant losses as trees and electricity poles were uprooted in many areas, and traffic was disrupted. Hailstones, measuring 8.6 cm in Mahabubabad district and 6.7 cm in Mulugu district, flew over houses.According to the Agriculture Department’s preliminary assessment, rainfall affected 3,238 acres across 38 villages in 12 mandals of Mahabubabad district and 9,110 acres in five mandals of Mulugu district. Crops such as paddy, maize, mango, banana, papaya, and sapota were damaged, with paddy suffering the most extensive losses. Farmers are now demanding compensation from the government to help them recover from these losses. Crop damage was also reported in Jayashankar Bhupalapally district too.
