VIJAYAWADA: Union minister of state for external affairs, Kirti Vardhan Singh, has said he government is introducing RFID chip embedded PSP-2 version ePassport to facilitate seamless travel between the countries and easy immigration process.
The minister was inaugurating the renovated Passport Seva Kendra here on Tuesday. Singh said the government is renovating all the RPOs with state of the art technologies to issue passports in stipulated time to all the applicants. The facilities are being developed in coordination with Tata Consulting Services in a record time.
He said, “Regional passport offices are a symbol of the country’s economic growth, opening countless opportunities to the talented and skilled youths for their growth and prosperity. Ever since the effective pandemic management, our own Covid vaccine development and their distribution to several countries, the developed nations are looking towards India for the utilization of our capabilities.”
The Union minister underscored various initiatives of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, including the Global Alliance for Solar Power in the fight against Climate Change. He said developed nations are seeking guidance from India on various issues.
He said, “Thanks to the leadership skills of PM Modi, India rose remarkably when other developed nations suffered economic slowdown.”
Kirti Vardhan Singh told the media that the country has strong economic foundations and hence, “nothing would impact our countrymen regardless of the shift in policies of others.” The issue of tariff hikes by the US is going to settle down soon, he said and urged all to have patience and confidence in the country’s development agenda.
The minister opined that India’s GDP or the capacity of its hardworking people cannot be underrated. Economy continued to grow even in pandemic times. We would grow to the level of the third economic super power in the world, he stated.
Singh thanked chief minister Chandrababu Naidu for the allocation of sufficient land in the state capital Amaravati for the passport office construction.
The central minister inaugurated the sprawling Passport Seva Kendra in Stalin Capital, MG Road, and launched a mobile passport van.
Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath, city MLAs Y Sujana Choudary, Gadde Rama Mohana Rao and Bonda Umamaheswara Rao inaugurated facilities like the conference hall, a library, a dispatch section and a printing section and RPO office in the new Kendra.
Apart from the RPO in Visakhapatnam, with PSK facilities in Vijayawada and Tirupati, the 13 Kendras in various post offices also serve the central, south coastal and Rayalaseema districts in passport services.
Chief passport officer KJ Sreenivas said Vijayawada PSK would handle 1000 applications per day and 3.5 lakh in a year. RPO Vijayawada, Siva Harsha, also spoke.�
