Hyderabad: In a move aimed at streamlining property registrations and curbing fraudulent practices, the government is set to launch an online slot booking system for property registrations from April 10. Initially rolled out in 22 sub-registrar offices, the initiative will be extended statewide in a phased manner.Revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Tuesday said the system was designed to offer efficient, transparent, fast, and corruption-free services to people. He also revealed plans to amend the Indian Registration Act, 1908, by introducing Section 22-B under Section 22 to eliminate double or multiple registrations through forged documents. “Sub-registrar offices are being modernised across Telangana to make services more citizen-friendly,” the minister said. “With the new slot booking system, the public will no longer need to wait for hours. Registrations can now be completed in just 10 to 15 minutes,” he added. Of the 144 sub-registrar offices in Telangana, the new system will first be implemented at 22 key locations including Azampura and Chikkadpally (Hyderabad), Sadashivpet (Sangareddy), Shamshabad, Saroornagar, Champapet (Ranga Reddy), Ramagundam (Peddapalli), Kusumanchi and Khammam (Khammam), Medchal (Registrar Office ), Mahbubnagar (Registrar Office), Jagtial, Nirmal, Warangal Fort, Warangal Rural, Kothagudem, Armoor, Bhongir, Choutuppal, and Nagarkurnool. Each sub-registrar office will operate with 48 daily time slots, helping prevent overcrowding. Citizens can visit website www.registration.telangana.gov.in to select a convenient date and time for registration. To accommodate urgent cases, five walk-in slots will be available daily between 5pm and 6pm on a first-come-first-serve basis. To further enhance capacity in busy sub-registrar offices, additional manpower is being deployed. For instance, in Quthbullapur, two extra sub-registrars and staff have been appointed, increasing daily slots from 48 to 144. The state government is also reorganising sub-registrar jurisdictions to align with slot booking requirements. As part of this restructuring, Champapet and Saroornagar sub-registrar offices have been merged to balance workload and improve service delivery. A new self-document preparation module is being added to the registration website. This optional feature will initially support sale deed documents, enabling citizens to create their documents independently without relying on brokers or document writers. In a major digital push, the government has decided to introduce Aadhaar-based e-signature for all parties involved in the registration. This will significantly cut down delays caused by the need for physical signatures from buyers, sellers, and witnesses. The e-signature facility is expected to be operational by April-end. Ponguleti said that these reforms will not only improve service delivery but also help curb property frauds, enhancing public trust in the registration system.
