Mancherial district, Tahsildar creates false records of living person as dead, slapped with suspension

Hyderabad: Mancherial district administration has placed Nennel Tahsildar S Ramesh under suspension for officially changing the name of a person, who is alive, as dead and altering more than three-acre patta land details to another person in Dharani portal. An order suspending Tahsildar was issued immediately after the preliminary probe. The incident triggered panic among villagers in the district prompting them to re-verify their land records. Ramesh created false records of the land after altering the details in the portal, which is a one-stop destination for agricultural land transactions. Apart from Tahsildar, the administration dismissed portal operator Uday and a private employee from service, a senior official confirmed, seeking anonymity. The alleged fraud committed by Ramesh came to light when the land owner lodged a complaint with the district Collector Deepak Kumar who probed the issue. In the preliminary inquiry, the officials found that Tahsildar committed the offence. The official said the main reason behind Ramesh’s fraud was yet to be ascertained. The ongoing probe would reveal the intention of Ramesh and persons behind him, the official added.
