Sufficient water at Nagarjunasagar:Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board

Hyderabad: Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) officials have asserted that there is sufficient water in the Nagarjunasagar reservoir, pointing out that presently the water level is 517.5 feet, while same time last year it was 510 feet. The full storage capacity is 590 feet. Officials said the plan to deploy eight motors to pump water, in case of a dip in levels, has been put on hold. “If there is any drop in the coming days, we will implement the pumping plan,” the water board said, adding that present levels are sufficient for the city’s drinking water needs. The water level has also increased in the Godavari Drinking Water Supply Project with an increase of 1.9 thousand million cubic feet compared to last year.As a precautionary step, the water board is currently servicing old pumps and strengthening the bunds to ensure smooth vehicular movement and prepare for any supply issues.
