NELLORE: Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy on Sunday assured that necessary steps will be taken to construct a bridge over the Buckingham Canal to ease difficulties being faced by local fishermen. Addressing a gathering at the Sri Rama Navami celebrations at Peddapattapupalem village in Ulavapadu mandal of Nellore district, Vemireddy underlined that fulfilling election promises remains his top priority. The MP attended the Sri Sitarama Kalyanotsavam as the chief guest, accompanied by Kandukur MLA Inturi Nageswara Rao. Both leaders interacted with the villagers and listened to their concerns. Vemireddy acknowledged the strong support that the villagers gave him, leading to his win in the Lok Sabha elections. He recalled that foremost among the key local issues brought to his attention had been lack of a bridge over the Buckingham Canal, which obstructed fishermen from accessing the sea. The MP assured the villagers that he would work closely with MLA Inturi and resolve their issues promptly. He praised Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s leadership in guiding Andhra Pradesh toward progress and good governance. MLA Nageswara Rao expressed gratitude to the villagers for their support, noting that both he and the MP had secured a majority of nearly 1,000 votes from the village.The legislator mentioned that approximately 150 differently-abled individuals had recently received tricycles and that CC road works worth ₹30 lakh are currently underway. Inturi voiced optimism that more development projects will be taken up in the near future.
