ANANTAPUR: Huge crowds of devotees turned up for darshan and prayers at historic temples in the region on Wednesday.TTD member and Madakasira MLA MS Raju offered silk clothes to the Lord Siddeswara Swamy temple at Hemavathi in Satya Sai district, the only shrine with a Lord Shiva statue in human form in south India. The temple was built in the 11 Century, during the reign of the Nolamba Pallava dynasty.Raju, a TTD board member, offered poojas at the Lord Siddeswara Swamy temple and offered traditional Samrani at the agnigundam. Thousands of devotees from AP and Karnataka arrive there to do this ritual on Shivaratri every year.The Braharathorsavam will be held on Thursday. APSRTC and KSRTC are operating special buses to the Hemavathi temple.Similarly, the Lord Siddeswara Swamy temple in Lepakshi witnessed huge crowdsas part of the annual brahmotsavalu. Satya Sai SP Rathna said elaborate security arrangements were made at all temples to avert incidents. Additional forces have been deployed at historic temples located closer to forest and hillock areas.In Annamayya district, roads minister Ramprasad Reddy offered silk clothes to Lord Shiva at Rajampet.
