Minister Reopens Daddanala Tank After Repairs

Kurnool: Roads and Buildings minister B.C. Janardhan Reddy reopened the Daddanala Tank (Jurreru Lift Irrigation Scheme) in Banaganapalle constituency on Wednesday after repairs were completed on four motors. Fulfilling his promise to the people, he personally funded ₹25.75 lakh for the repair work.Speaking at the programme, the minister stated that pending irrigation projects would soon resume under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. Janardhan Reddy recalled that during the previous TD government, the Jurreru Lift Irrigation Scheme was launched with an investment of ₹21 crore. However, after the YSRCP came to power, it allegedly ignored the scheme, which serves 28 villages in Banaganapalle mandal. Due to a lack of maintenance, four motors were damaged, he said.He explained that the Daddanala Tank is the lifeline for people in Padamatipalle and Banaganapalle. When full, it helps recharge local borewells and benefits agriculture. However, he blamed former MLA Katasani Ramireddy for neglecting the scheme, leading to its halt.Janardhan Reddy said that due to a shortage of government funds, he took the initiative to restore the motors using his personal resources. He assured that officials have been directed to keep the motors running continuously to fill the tank whenever water is available in the SRBC canal. He further stated that the NDA coalition government’s priority is farmers’ welfare, and all pending irrigation projects will be resumed soon.
