Hyderabad: The Maha Kumbh concludes on Wednesday, with over 60 crore devotees have taken the holy dip at the Triveni Sangam since January 13. The ghats have seen massive crowds, and in the final days, hundreds of groups from the city have also made their way to the sacred site. Many devotees have planned their visit specifically for Maha Shivaratri.Widespread publicity and social media posts highlighting the event’s spiritual significance further motivated people to pilgrimage. A group of friends from the city — Sandeep, Amarnath Yadav, Rakesh, Shiva and Uday Shah from Secunderabad — hired a private vehicle for the journey.“The crowds were overwhelming, and we faced some challenges, but the experience was worth it. Our visit inspired several other groups in our neighbourhood to visit the Kumbh,” they said.Despite the heavy rush and difficult journey, devotees were determined to take a dip at the sacred Triveni Sangam. “We are a family of five and initially cancelled our trip after the stampede at Delhi railway station. The highways were also heavily congested. However, we finally decided to go and made it in the last days of the Kumbh,” said Latha Bai, a laundry owner from Domalguda. Many last-minute travellers are still making efforts to attend the Kumbh. Venkateswarulu Kamavaram, an NRI, shared his experience: “The airfare from the US was exorbitant, and even domestic flight tickets were expensive. But after seeing so many people travelling by trains and buses, I felt I had to be there.” He added, “The Kumbh is a deeply spiritual event. Devout Hindus are making great efforts to reach Prayagraj in time to take part in this sacred gathering.”
