Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Monday directed the state government and Superintendent of Osmania General Hospital to submit their contention on allegations that the hospital staff were refusing treatment to patients who do not have Aadhaar cards.A division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Sujoy Paul and Justice Renuka Yara was dealing with a PIL filed by advocate Srinivas Byreddy. He brought to the notice of the court an incident, which was reported in some sections of the media, that the hospital superintendent refused to extend medical aid to a poor woman patient as she could not produce her Aadhaar card.Government counsel Rahul Reddy submitted to the court that treatment was provided to the patient and relevant documents would be filed within two days.The court inquired about any obligation to produce the Aadhaar card for admission or treatment in government hospitals in the state.
