Bride's secret marriage unveiled at Uttar Pradesh mass wedding ceremony

A mass wedding ceremony at a college in Hasanpur, Uttar Pradesh, turned dramatic when one bride’s secret past was revealed. Over 300 couples were gathered for the government-sponsored mass wedding event on Sunday, but when Asma’s in-laws showed up, the wedding was halted. It was discovered that Asma, who was marrying for the second time, had not divorced her first husband.Asma’s first marriage to Noor Mohammad had been marred by multiple disputes, and she had been living with her parents for the past six months. While her divorce case was still pending in court, Asma had decided to marry her cousin, Jaber Ahmed, in exchange for a share of the benefits provided under the Chief Minister’s Mass Marriage Scheme. This scheme offers Rs 35,000 for the bride, along with various gifts such as a dinner set, clothes, a wall clock, and a vanity kit.The couple’s plan was to use the financial support to buy buffaloes. However, Asma’s father-in-law arrived at the ceremony with their marriage certificate, leading officials to involve the police. The authorities filed a case against Asma and Jaber Ahmed for attempting to exploit the scheme’s benefits and for obstructing government proceedings. The Chief Development Officer, Ashwini Kumar, confirmed that the police had been informed and were investigating the matter. The case highlights the lengths to which some individuals may go for financial gain, even at the expense of legal and moral obligations.
