HC rejects police plea against Harish Rao

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Friday was not inclined to vacate the stay orders issued by it on February 19, in which it stopped investigation by the Panjagutta police in the phone-tapping case registered against former minister T. Harish Rao. The court rejected the request of Panjagutta police for continuance of the investigation. Moreover, the High Court decided to dismiss the interim application of the police seeking to vacate the stay orders. However, on the request of the public prosecutor, the interim application was kept pending and the court made it clear that it would conclude the final hearing on February 27 in the criminal petitions filed by Harish Rao and Radhakishan Rao, who sought quash of the phone tapping case against them. Justice K. Lakshman, while dealing with the criminal petitions filed by Harish Rao, had on February 19 issued stay orders directing Panjagutta police to stop the investigation in the phone-tapping case that was registered against Harish Rao and others till March 3. Challenging the said orders, the ACP had filed an interim application seeking to vacate the stay orders. The application was heard by Justice Lakshman on Friday. He was not inclined to vacate the stay orders.
