Intuc chief hails GHMC staff

Hyderabad: Indian National Trade Union Congress president Dr G. Sanjeeva Reddy lauded GHMC workers for their contribution to civic services, stating that the department had been neglected under the previous government. He urged immediate action to support municipal employees and ensure better working conditions.He was speaking at an event where the Intuc assured support to the longstanding demands of GHMC employees.Intuc has decided to take up the GHMC employees’ issues of promotions, health benefits, and occupational safety with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. The decision was announced at an event held on Tuesday at the LB Nagar office where Dr Sanjeeva Reddy was felicitated.Speaking at the event, Intuc working oresident Adil Shariff assured that the union would take special measures to resolve GHMC employees’ issues. Key demands include promotions from Class IV to assistant municipal commissioner level, health insurance coverage up to ₹15 lakh, improved workplace safety for sanitary, transport, entomology and other field workers of GHMC, and a wage increase for contract employees to ₹26,000 per month.Shariff emphasized that GHMC employees, spanning sanitation, transport, entomology, tax collection, and ministerial roles, were hopeful about the new government’s response.He also called for secret ballot elections in GHMC, asserting that the Intuc-affiliated Sahakar Mazdoor Union would secure a decisive victory.Present at the event were G. Sathyajeeth Reddy ILO governing body member & Intuc all India youth wing chairman; R.D. Chandrashekar, all-India Intuc general Secretary, K. Jagan Mohan Reddy, vice-president Intuc AP/TG and general secretary of the Deccan Chronicle Employees Union and Vijay Kumar Yadav, vice-president Intuc, AP/TG.
