Hyderabad: Agriculture minister Tummala Nageswara Rao on Tuesday met the chairpersons of district cooperative banks, whose tenures are set to end soon, to discuss their term extensions with the Chief Minister. He also held meetings with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, irrigation minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and other officials to expedite technical approvals for the Sitarama lift irrigation project and the Sitaramasagar multi-purpose projects.During a review meeting at the Secretariat, the minister directed officials to accelerate the establishment of an oil palm factory in Narmetta, Siddipet district. He also instructed them to initiate work on another factory in Beechupally, Gadwal district.“Oilfed should be developed into a corporate entity with a clear roadmap. Competent staff must be recruited across its factory, nursery, plantation, finance and marketing departments to ensure efficient operations. Strict action will be taken against those failing to meet oil palm plantation targets,” he told officials.He also ordered officials to maintain updated voter records for cooperative organisations whose terms have ended. He also initiated an inquiry into financial irregularities in cooperatives, directing officials to ensure the recovery of misused funds.The meeting was attended by agriculture and cooperation secretary Raghunandan Rao, horticulture director Yasmin Basha, cooperative director Uday Kumar and other senior officials.
