Hyderabad: A team from the Kerala crime branch was in the city in search of two persons involved in the murder of a woman in 2004. They have been absconding for the last 20 years.According to the team, led by M. Kunnipparampan, DYSP Malappuram crime branch, the two were co-workers of the victim Leela, a native of Thiruvananthapuram, whom they strangled in 2004 in Kerala. Her body was found in a rubber plantation at Angadipuram Amsam on December 28, the DySP told Deccan Chronicle. He said that the two alleged killers were now shifting from one place to another, including Kallur, Rudraram and Zaheerabad, to evade arrest. The case was initially investigated by Prinathalamanna police in Crime No. 766 of 2004. In 2022, the case was handed over to Malappuram crime branch, Kunnipparampan said. The FIR was revised to Crime No. 203 of 2022. “During investigation, we found that the victim’s real name was Leela. While working as a helper in Al-Kabeer slaughterhouse in Telangana from 1994 to 1997, she changed her name to Saleena and subsequently to Sulekha. Before moving to Hyderabad, she worked as a helper in Al-Kabeer company at Ghaziabad and Delhi.” He said that their teams were searching for the suspects in Patancheru, Kullur, Raidurgam and Zaheerabad.
