HYDERABAD: National Mineral Development Corporation executive director Satyender Rai has received the award for best digital and transformation initiative in mining and steel at the 7th technology excellence awards.The NMDC in a statement said that the recognition reflected the company’s commitment to integrating technology at the heart of mining, making operations more precise, transparent and future-ready. It said that as a pioneer in digital infrastructure, NMDC is transforming the mining landscape with innovation that enhances efficiency while safeguarding resources.The Navratna public sector undertaking (PSU) owns and operates highly mechanised iron ore mines in Chhattisgarh and Karnataka and is considered to be one of the low-cost producers of iron ore. It also operates the only mechanised diamond mine in India at Panna in Madhya Pradesh.Taking a big initiative in digital transformation, the NMDC has implemented the latest software of `SAP S/4 HANA’ to ease its mining operations. It has been implementing the new software in all its core modules to get industry-specific solutions.Rai said that the NMDC was the first CPSU to make use of enterprise resource planning to ease the operations. It led to integrate its business process and enhancing productivity with best operational efficiency.
