Andhra Pradesh HC seeks urgent report on CRZ violations at Bheemli beach

Visakhapatnam: The Andhra Pradesh High Court has sought a comprehensive report on violations of Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) rules vis-à-vis the construction activities along the Bheemli beach road in this district. This was revealed here on Wednesday by Jana Sena leader Peethala Murthy Yadav. He said, “I have filed a public interest litigation on the status of CRZ norms, stating that the illegal constructions by Neha Reddy at the Bheemli beach were not removed completely.”During the hearing, on Wednesday, the court expressed its displeasure at the delay in addressing these violations. It asked the government to urgently inform the status of the previously issued demolition orders, Yadav said. The court was told that it has been three months since the initial orders were given but no reports were submitted.According to Murthy Yadav, the court ordered the formation of a team comprising the AP coastal zone management authority (CZMA) member secretary, the Visakhapatnam collector, and the GVMC collector to compile a detailed report within a week regarding the illegal structures along the RK beach upto the Bheemli beach stretch. The JS leader said that despite previous court orders for demolition, some structures remained intact. These constructions not only violated CRZ regulations but also threatened local livelihoods, particularly those of fishermen who relied on access to coastal areas for their work, he said.
