KARIMNAGAR: The four-day Telangana State Police Sports Meet organised under the Karimnagar Police Commissionerate concluded on a grand note in Karimnagar on Saturday.Telangana DGP Dr Jitendar, who attended as a chief guest at the closing ceremony, said that according to a recent national survey, it was learnt that the Telangana police are leading the way in all fields in the country.He highlighted that Telangana police secured first place in the All-India Police Meet and expressed hope that they would continue to perform excellently in future national sports competitions.The DGP emphasised the importance of competitive participation at the national level and urged the Telangana police to aim for a top position.He congratulated all athletes who participated in the event, recognizing their efforts in making the event a success and encouraged them to continue participating in sports, saying it helps individuals identify their strengths and weaknesses, leading to future success.Karimnagar police commissioner Abhishek Mohanty said a total of 2,380 athletes participated in the sports meet of which 296 were women police personnel.Notably 12 IPC officers also took part in the event. In the past sports meets, only about 1 per cent of police personnel participated in various sports. This time it has increased to three per cent with the initiative taken by the DGP.This year the competition featured 28 disciplines and athletes won a total of 236 gold medals, 236 silver medals and 396 bronze medals across various categories and subcategories.
