LUCKNOW: A massive fire broke out in a truck loaded with around 150 gas cylinders leading to a series of blasts for about half an hour in Ghaziabad district of UP on Saturday.The incident took place at Bhopura Chowk on Delhi-Wazirabad Road in Thana Teela Mod area. However, there no reports of a casualty or injury. The blasts in the truck under flames was so powerful that it led a godown present on the roadside to collapse, said the local sources.The sources added that the parts of the exploding cylinders were flying far and wide leading to a fire in 2-3 houses in the vicinity.The local sources also claimed that the sound of the blasts could be heard in the periphery of 3 km. People residing in the vicinity rushed out of their houses thinking it to be bomb blast. Even the vehicles parked in the vicinity also caught fire.The driver of the truck saved his life by jumping out of the truck. On getting the information about the inferno, the fire brigade reached the spot and put 8 fire tenders into service to douse the flames, said the sources. The fire could be controlled after the efforts of an hour and a half.Chief fire officer Rahul Pal, firefighters and employees were all present on the scene, however initially firefighters were unable to approach the blaze due to the continuing explosions.As per Chief Fire Officer of Ghaziabad, Rahul Pal, the truck caught fire due to some short circuit in it and that here was no casualty.The CFO confirmed that he got the information about the fire in a truck laden with gas cylinders early morning at around 4:35 am.
