Hyderabad: HYDRAA on Friday demolished a large shed covering a park land at Gayatri Colony at Patancheru’s Muthangi, that had been reconstructed by alleged encroachers twice after it was brought down by the residents association. The park, which was a part of the layout since 2004, was encroached in 2022.Post demolition, HYDRAA commissioner A.V. Ranganath filed a complaint with the Patancheru police naming Praveen, Ravi, Mehraj Khan and Raju over the encroachments. The four run a real-estate firm and reside in the same village.Locals and colony association members spoke about the troubles the alleged encroachers created, filing a police complaint and approaching their employers.Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, a resident who requested not to be named, said “They built a shed covering all of the park land. Association members got a JCB and removed the shed in early last year.”“They still reconstructed the shed immediately afterwards. They also had a CCTV camera covering the park,” he said. The residents association brought down that structure as well but the alleged encroachers rebuilt it.“We then complained to HYDRAA. On learning about this, the encroachers filed a complaint against us at the Patancheru police station, and gave that complaint to our employers,” the resident said.“We couldn’t take it anymore, and we took our cases back from both the Patancheru police and HYDRAA.”Seshaiah, a resident, said, “This drama began in 2022, when these people claimed that they had bought the land. But it was all parkland. We have had it in our layout since the beginning.”The Patancheru police on Friday said that there were two complaints with them; one from the members of the association against the four encroachers, and the other from the encroachers against the association members.Although HYDRAA has stepped in and removed the encroachments, locals and association members fear further problems from the alleged encroachers.
