Hyderabad: Taking swift action on complaints from residents, HYDRAA reclaimed ownership of a GHMC park area at Secunderabad Malkajgiri’s Mirjalguda area’s Chinmaya Marg. Authorities cleared rubble and reclaimed the land from encroachers.Speaking with Deccan Chronicle, J. Sriram, joint secretary of the Mirjalguda Welfare Association, said: “This isn’t a new issue, we have been fighting the encroachment since 2021. We have filed a writ petition in the High Court, asking GHMC and the government to take back control of the parkland.”“In 2021, encroachers raised structures in the parkland. After filing the writ petition, GHMC razed them. After that, the neighbouring parties began using the parkland as an entrance to their houses and shops,” Sriram said.“We went to every office and requested them to take action. The engineering team said the municipal authorities were responsible. The municipal authorities said the engineering team had to do the job. The problem was revolving in a loop.”They approached the HYDRAA a week ago, and explained their grievances. “We showed them the maps and layouts and all documents, and the authorities immediately responded and cleared off all the encroachment. They also planted a board, saying it is a GHMC park and is protected by HYDRAA”, Sriram said.Colony members said they also inspected the road encroachment which took place in the colony, and said the authorities assured action as soon as possible. They thanked the agency for taking swift action against the encroachments.
