Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Thursday asked all employees of the power utilities, including chairpersons, managing directors and superintending engineers, to conduct field visits to ensure stable power supply in the coming summer months when demand is expected to reach its peak.In a review meeting, Bhatti asked the officials to conduct regular review meetings with consumers, farmers and popularise the electricity call centre number 1912. Asking the officials to improve the power distribution system and other measures to fulfil the expected peak summer power demand of 6,238 MWs, Bhatti also directed them to address each and every complaint received.He also asked them to keep emergency power restoration vehicles ready to address adverse weather conditions as strong gales are expected in summer.Energy secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania assured the minister that they have taken up all contingency measures to ensure quality and uninterrupted power supply. CMD of Transco Krishna Bhaskar said his team has been regularly conducting load monitoring of 132/33 KV substations by improving the capacity of power transformers in the state to meet any unexpected demand.CMD of TGNPDCL K. Varun Reddy said 17 new sub-stations have been set up and the capacity of 44 power transformers were improved. The capacity of another 32 transformers would be improved by next month and all new sub-stations would be inaugurated on March 12, he said.Earlier in a separate function, Bhatti released the new year diary for power engineers and said that the state is attracting huge investments after announcing the new energy policy. He charged that the earlier BRS government did great injustice to the state. The Congress government has released Gruha Jyoti and other welfare schemes with a subsidy amount of `12,486 crore to power utilities to make them sustain economically, he said.Stating that the government is committed to the welfare of the employees, Bhatti said the state government has given promotions to 5,000 employees of the power sector and recruited some family members on compassionate grounds. The government is always ready to address all the concerns of the employees, he said.
