Hyderabad: HMDA commissioner Sarfaraz Ahmad and Water Board MD Ashok Reddy visited Kokapet and Neopolis on Monday to plan for future water needs in these areas which are growing rapidly. They inspected sites for building reservoirs and water infrastructure.At Neopolis, they reviewed land allocated for a balancing reservoir and pump house. The plan is to bring water from the Godavari Phase-2 project to the Khanapur reservoir and distribute it to nearby areas using gravity. Officials were asked to finalise the required plans for this.The team also visited the Khanapur balancing reservoir. Ashok Reddy suggested proposals to build more reservoirs and water treatment plants here to meet future demands.Ashok Reddy also inspected the water conduit from Gandipet to Asifnagar filter beds. He directed officials to install fencing along the maintenance roads and repair any leakages immediately. He also asked to remove any encroachments on the conduit with the help of the vigilance team.At Kokapet, Ashok Reddy reviewed the construction of pressure filters at the Water Board’s reservoir site. He directed the team to complete them by February 15. These filters will treat water from the conduit and supply it to surrounding areas. He also asked for plans to set up a tanker filling station to address water needs during the summer.
