Vijayawada: Opposition parties have announced state wide protests against Union home minister Amit Shah’s visit on January 19, condemning his controversial remarks about Dr B.R. Ambedkar in the Rajya Sabha.CPM leaders K. Ramakrishna and V. Srinivasa Rao criticised Shah for trivialising Ambedkar’s legacy by suggesting that invoking his name had become a superficial trend. They labelled the comments as disrespectful and demanded accountability from the BJP.The opposition called for unity among citizens and organisations to expose the central government’s stance and uphold Ambedkar’s values. Prominent leaders from CPM, and other leftist groups urged widespread participation in the protests, emphasising the need to defend the Constitution’s principles of respect and dignity for all.
