Hyderabad: Officials of Telangana Drugs Control Administration (DCA) conducted a raid on an unlicensed premises located at Dr. Anand’s dental clinic in Chandanagar for operating illegally without a valid drug license. During the raid, officials detected unauthorized stocking of huge quantities of medicines for sale. Around 11 varieties of medicines including antibiotics, analgesics, antiulcer drugs etc. were found stocked for sale at the premises. Officials seized the stock of total worth Rs. 15,000 during the raid. The officials seized overpriced anti-fungal medicine ‘ITRAMEN-200 capsules’ (Itraconazole Capsules 200 mg) at Bandimet in Secunderabad. The MRP indicated is very high compared to the ceiling price fixed for the product by the Central government. Officials seized ‘Neem Churnam,’ an ayurvedic medicine, in Nagarkurnool for making misleading advertisements that it claims to treat ‘fever’, which is a contravention of Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act-1954. The ayurvedic medicine was manufactured by Arogya Rama Herbals, Devaryamjal, Shamirpet, Medchal-Malkajgiri District, officials said. Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act- 1954 prohibits advertisement of certain drugs for treatment of certain diseases and disorders. No person shall take part in publication of advertisement regarding the diseases or disorders indicated under Act.
