Vijayawada: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu will start his Amaravati 2.0 capital at the beginning of New Year 2025, aiming to complete the world-class capital in three years.He has already given his consent to Rs 24,276.83 crore worth works for establishment of the capital. The APCRDA is all set to call tenders for the purpose. Soon after taking over the government, Chandrababu Naidu inspected the stalled structures at Amaravati. He then appointed teams from IIT Chennai and Hyderabad to study the strength and quality of these structures before resuming works. The CM ordered clearance of the jungle spread over 23,429 acres at a cost of Rs 36.5 crore and the same has been completed. A recent cabinet meeting headed by him granted permission to the CRDA to undertake 45 engineering works worth Rs 33,137.98 crore for construction of quarters for IAS officers, gazetted officers and class IV employees, apart from flood mitigation works, roads and other infrastructure. Chandrababu Naidu also got approval for $800 million loan from World Bank to transform Amaravati into a model capital in the world. Significantly, the first phase of Amaravati’s development is being jointly supported by the World Bank and Asian Development Bank. The loan, denominated in Japanese Yen, will support Amaravati’s transformation into an economic hub. The maturity period of the loan is 29 years, including a six-year grace period. Starting from New Year 2025, CRDA is expected to call for tenders sequentially until Sankranti. The authority has so far allotted land to 130 central institutions, of which 125 have come forward to undertake constructions. The RBI has informed CRDA that it will soon set up its branch in Amaravati. BITS Pilani is preparing to start work on the 35 acres allotted to it along the Seed Access Road. Similarly, XLRI will soon undertake works on the 50 acres allotted to it. Municipal administration and urban development minister P. Narayana said a total of 16 roads from the east to the west and another 18 roads from the north to the south will be developed in the Amaravati core capital area, running into 217 sq. km.
