Vijayawada: YSR Congress president and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has urged party members to channel public dissent against the coalition government into an organised agitation, highlighting its failures and serving as the voice of the people. Addressing local representatives from the Anantapur district on Thursday, he remarked that public discontent with the Chandrababu Naidu-led government has reached unprecedented levels within six months, making it crucial to take these issues to the people.Outlining the YSRC’s roadmap for public protests, Jagan emphasised issue-based campaigns. On December 27, the party plans to protest against rising electricity charges by urging citizens to burn inflated bills as a symbolic act of dissent. On January 3, attention will shift to the pending Rs.3,900 crore in fee reimbursement and hostel grant dues, which have disrupted students’ education. “These protests are not about politics; they are about standing by the people and amplifying their voices,” Jagan stressed. He criticised the Telugu Desam’s governance, citing an additional Rs.15,000 crore burden on citizens due to increased electricity charges. Jagan also reminded party workers that adversity is part of leadership. “Injustice, court cases, and even jail time are inevitable in the fight for people’s rights. I was jailed for 16 months but emerged stronger to become Chief Minister,” he said, inspiring confidence among party members.Jagan dismissed Naidu’s “Vision 2047” as a hollow distraction, contrasting it with YSRC’s initiatives. “While Naidu spins colorful tales, we have brought meaningful changes—transforming government schools to rival private institutions, introducing cutting-edge courses, and revolutionizing healthcare through programs like the Family Doctor system,” he explained.Reiterating the need for collective action, Jagan called for resilience and determination. “The public’s dissatisfaction with the TD government is evident. We must channel this sentiment into meaningful resistance. Together, we can transform this opposition into support for the YSRC,” he concluded.
