Adilabad: Police on Sunday intensified vehicle checks at Telangana’s state borders by establishing inter-state check posts as the polling date for the Maharashtra Assembly elections approached.Adilabad, Nirmal, Mancherial, and Komaram Bheem Asifabad districts share borders with Maharashtra. The election campaign is scheduled to conclude at 5 pm on November 18, with elections set for November 20.District police have set up six inter-state check posts in Adilabad district, including locations at Pipparwada, Aandpur in Jainad, Shankarguda in Bela, Mediguda in Gadiguda, Laxmipur in Talamadugu, and Ghanpur in Boath mandals.Authorities have been checking all vehicles travelling from Adilabad into Maharashtra. Leaders from major political parties in Telangana frequently visit Maharashtra to campaign for their party candidates.During his visit to Rajura for election campaigning, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s vehicle was inspected by Maharashtra police.Adilabad collector Rajarshi Shaw instructed people travelling to Maharashtra to carry authentic proof for cash if carrying more than Rs 50,000.Nirmal SP Janaki Sharmila inspected the inter-state check post at Ramsingh Thanda in Sarangapur mandal, Nirmal district. She advised check post staff to remain vigilant and coordinate with allied departments to monitor the illegal transport of liquor and cash.She also instructed staff to thoroughly check vehicles traveling between Telangana and Maharashtra during the Assembly elections and to record videos of these inspections.Police have intensified surveillance along the Pranahitha and Godavari rivers, particularly at ferry points and for individuals crossing the rivers between Maharashtra and Telangana in Mancherial and Komaram Bheem Asifabad districts.
