BHOPAL: A personal security officer (PSO) and the driver of an Uttar Pradesh minister were allegedly attacked by a group of locals in the presence of the minister in Gwalior district of Madhya Pradesh. The incident occurred on Friday evening when UP minister of state for labour and employment Manohar Lal ‘Mannu Kori’ was travelling from Agra to Lalitpur.According to sources, a truck had overturned near Jorasi Ghati under the Bilauva police station area of Gwalior, causing a traffic jam. Rather than waiting for the follow-up and pilot vehicles left behind in the jam, the driver of the minister’s SUV made a wrong turn to progress ahead. The minister had to attend a series of events in Lalitpur district of UP.A short distance ahead on the same road in Gwalior, two motorbike-borne men obstructed the minister’s vehicle, leading to confrontation between the two men and the minister’s PSO. Furious over the bikers’ behaviour, the PSO came out of the vehicle and slapped one of them. The bikers, who were locals, called villagers for support resulting in a heated dispute between both sides.Soon, around 8-10 men arrived and attacked the PSO and the driver. The attackers also snatched the service pistol of the PSO and assaulted him in full public view. The PSO suffered cuts in one of the fingers. The police, including IG and DIG Gwalior, soon reacched the spot, after which a case was lodged against the accused.“Four men, who were primarily involved in the incident, were traced and arrested, and the PSO’s service gun was recovered. The minister left with proper escort vehicles in the night for Lalitpur district of UP,” Gwalior SP Dharmaveer Singh said.
