VISHAKHAPATNAM: State ST Commission Chairman DVG Shankara Rao has raised serious concerns regarding the recent deaths of students at tribal welfare ashram schools in Parvathipuram Manyam district. Following the tragic incidents, he has called for a detailed report from the district collector to investigate the underlying causes of these fatalities. The alarming situation came to light after the death of a student from the Ramabhadrapuram tribal welfare ashram school, which was reportedly linked to health issues. Shankara Rao emphasized the need for an urgent assessment of the conditions within these schools, particularly after two students died within a single day. He highlighted essential requirements such as access to clean drinking water, adequate sanitation facilities, and mosquito nets to ensure the well-being of students living in these institutions. In response to this crisis, he has ordered collectors from Vizianagaram, Alluri Sitharama Raju, and Srikakulam districts to compile comprehensive reports detailing the measures taken in welfare schools and residential homes. The focus will be on evaluating the management practices of tribal ashram schools and hostels, as well as monitoring the health conditions of students more closely.
