Hyderabad: The central zone task force arrested Rooparam Khatri, 39, for adulterating chilli powder and seized material worth Rs.4 lakh from his house at Osmangunj. He was found mixing low-grade red chilli power, artificial colour and oil and packing it in the name of a well-known brand, task force DCP Y.V.S. Sudheendra said.Drugs Worth Several Crores DestroyedHyderabad: The state excise cops on Tuesday destroyed Rs.11.61 crore worth narcotics, weighing 7,951 kg that was seized in 703 cases in October in all ten zones of the state. The drugs were being smuggled from the Andhra Orissa Border to the city, Bengaluru, Goa and elsewhere, according to V.B. Kamalasan Reddy, director of enforcement, prohibition and excise.The excise cops are expected to destroy another lot of drugs worth Rs.75 crore.Cops Recover Over 50K Mobile DevicesHyderabad: The Telangana police have recovered 50,788 mobile devices from April 20, 2023, to November 3, 2024, using the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal. This is the second best performance said CID Director-General Shikha Goel, who serves as the state nodal officer for the CEIR portal.The CEIR system is now operational across all 780 police stations in the state, GOEL said. The police had cracked the 50,000-phone recovery mark on October 29. Telangana currently recovers an average of 91 mobile devices per day, up from 87 per day in July 2024, she said.Three Arrested on Gangrape ChargesHyderabad: Three men gangraped a 50-year-old woman at their room in Omnagar, Madhuranagar police said on Tuesday. The trio had spotted the victim waiting at the Hitec City bus stand at about 9 pm on Monday, seeking help.The trio offered to find her a job and coaxed the victim to go with them in an autorickshaw, promising to take her to an employer. However, they took her to their room where they assaulted her.The accused, said to be painters from Gorakhpur, UP, threatened to kill the victim if she reported the incident to police. However the victim lodged a complaint early on Tuesday with the Madhuranagar police.The police have formed three teams to investigate the case, said Madhuranagar inspector G. Srinivas Varma. Police were checking CCTV cameras in the area. Madhuranagar police were working with the Afzalgunj and railway police to cover bus and railway station. It is reported that two persons have been taken into custody for questioning.Man Arrested for Selling GanjaHyderabad: The Kukatpally police arrested a 51-year-old man for allegedly selling ganja at a bus stop located near a junior college, 5 pm on Monday. He was carrying 2.3 kgs of ganja, which the police seized. Police said he was jailed for eight months in a similar case in the Jeedimetla police limits, and was released three months back.Place of Worship DesecratedHyderabad: One person was reportedly taken into custody for desecrating a place of worship within the RGIA police limits. According to the Shamshabad ACP, the incident occurred late on Monday night and was discovered early on Tuesday morning. Security was tightened at the Airport Colony, where the place of worship is situated. Political party representatives reached the site to protest the desecration.Another Statue of Bapu VandalisedHyderabad: Days after a Mahatma Gandhi statue was desecrated in Bowenpally on Diwali night, another statue of the father of the nation was found damaged in Pragathinagar at 2.30 am on Monday, KPHB police said. According to Kukatpally ACP K. Sreenivasa Rao, the miscreants are yet to be identified. The statue which located near the Pragathinagar lake. The damage was noticed by morning walkers.“We suspect the drunkards who hang out in that area might be behind this act. We have registered a case,” the ACP said.The official said that there were CCTV cameras in the area but could not capture clear images of the vandals. Pictures of the damaged statue were circulated on social media platforms and the incident drew widespread criticism.
