Nalgonda: Tourism minister Jupally Krishna Rao announced on Friday that a star hotel and water sports facilities will be developed at Nagarjunasagar in the district through a public-private partnership (PPP) model.Accompanied by Kamlesh D. Patel (Daaji), founder and president of Sri Ramachandra Mission, the minister visited Buddhavanam to inspect the arrangements made for visitors.Krishna Rao highlighted that Buddhists from across Asia were visiting the Buddhist theme park at Buddhavanam. He anticipated a significant increase in the number of visitors with the development of additional facilities.“We aim to develop Nagarjunasagar into one of the top tourist destinations in the country. To achieve this, we have decided to construct a star hotel near Buddhavanam and develop water sports facilities at Nagarjunasagar under a PPP model,” stated Krishna Rao.Nagarjunasagar MLA Kunduru Jayaveer emphasised the potential for developing tourist attractions in his Assembly constituency, citing its geographical advantages. He pointed out that the Krishna River was surrounded by forests and mountains as it flew through the district.Earlier, the minister inquired about the available open spaces in Vijaya Vihar and Buddhavanam at Nagarjunasagar. He directed officials to submit a report on the availability of government lands in the area.The meeting was attended by Nyalakonda Prakash Reddy, managing director of the Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation, and E. Siva Nagi Reddy, a Buddhist consultant.
