Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Thursday announced Rs.500 bonus for the fine variety of paddy (sanna vadlu). Participating in Collectors conference virtually from Secretariat here, he said though there were as many as 7,000 IKP centres in the State, officials can open additional IKP centres wherever necessary to meet the requirements of farmers. At the same time, serial numbers should be allocated to each IKP centre in the State. He also asked officials concerned to make separate arrangements for procuring a fine variety of paddy. “It is the responsibility of officials to ensure that there should not be any irregularities in procurement of fine varieties of paddy,” he said. Priority must to be accorded to ensure proper protection to paddy at IKP centre from rains and arrangements must be made after collecting information from IMD. Revanth Reddy said the officials must provide a sufficient number of gunny bags for the procurement of paddy apart from shifting the procured paddy to the relevant places immediately and the agriculture officials must be involved in the entire procurement process. He asked the district Collectors to review the procurement process of paddy for two hours every day along with visiting the IKP centres to collect feedback and a call centre should be established for the convenience of farmers. Instructing officials not to spare anyone who dupe farmers, Revanth Reddy asked them to take necessary steps to prevent the arrival of paddy from the borders of neighbouring States.
