Hyderabad: The district administration here on Saturday shifted as many as 100 Musi Riverfront oustees from Vinayaka Veedhi in Rasoolpura under Himayathnagar mandal to 2BHK flats in Malakpet. These families were shifted as part of the rehabilitation to them after being displaced by the Musi Riverfront Development Project. In all, the administration has identified 150 families that would be affected because of the project in Vinayaka Veedhi. Of these 150 families, 100 of them were shifted to 2BHK flats in Malakpet while others to Ziaguda soon. The shifting of the families was conducted in coordination with the Revenue, GHMC and Housing departments. After inspecting Vinayaka Veedhi, Hyderabad Collector Anudeep Durishetty on Saturday said that the residents living in the nearby catchment area of the Musi River would be allotted two-bedroom houses through lottery after verifying their Aadhar cards and will be provided with house title certificates and locks as per the government guidelines. He said that the government would take necessary measures to ensure that the livelihood of the displaced people and the education of the children are not affected. For the education of the children of the families affected with the project, the district administration would take necessary steps to get admission to the students in nearby SC, BC and minority gurukul institutions. Besides, the families will be given loans from self help group societies. “Don’t believe any misconceptions, residents are moving to double bedroom houses voluntarily,” he said, adding that the entire process of shifting families was carried out in a peaceful manner without any hiccups.
