ANANTAPUR: Cricket enthusiasts don’t need to worry, the star-spangled Duleep Trophy match in Anantapur will go on as scheduled on Thursday (September 5), notwithstanding the wet weather across the state recently.Over the weekend, several parts of the state experienced continuous rainfall for nearly two days, leading to flash floods in areas near Vijayawada. However, Anantapur received normal rain and there was no flooding.The weather prediction for Anantapur on Thursday is clear skies.The Test match at Anantapur Sports Village will be a starry affair with the like of Suryakumar Yadav, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Sai Sudharsan representing India C and noted names Axar Patel, Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer lining up for India D.This season of Duleep Trophy will bring joy to people of Anantapur as gates will be opened for spectators and several matches of the tournament will held here at the stadium which is of international standards.In preparation, the pavilions, dressing rooms and commentators’ boxes have been refurbished.Two top hotels in Anantapur city are accommodating the players of from two teams, while another hotel in Gooty Road will host the umpires and other match officials.The guest rooms at the stadium have been renovated to accommodate technicians. BCCI staff and players have started to pour into Anantapur already. The police have already taken control of the stadium as part of security measures.Passes for the first day’s action have been issued.
