A distributor, speaking on condition of anonymity, expressed concerns about the film’s release, stating, “There are rumors of a potential ban, but nothing is finalized yet. We are keeping our fingers crossed.” He believes the film would attract more viewers in Telangana, particularly in the Nizam region, compared to Andhra Pradesh, where Hindi films generally receive less patronage.Bollywood teams are reportedly still in discussions, and no agreements have been finalized for the film to hit theaters on September 6. The distributor added that Kangana’s recent films, like “Chandramukhi 2” and “Dhakkad,” had underperformed, leading to the likelihood of “Emergency” being released on a commission basis. “Even if the Telangana government allows the release, clarity on the situation will likely come by Wednesday,” he concluded. The potential ban gained traction after Md Ali Shabbir, an adviser to the Telangana state government, stated on Friday that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had assured the Sikh community that his administration would consider banning the release of “Emergency,” pending legal consultation. The statement came after the Telangana Sikh Society (TSS) and representatives from various Sikh Gurdwaras submitted representations to the government, urging an immediate ban on the movie, which they claim misrepresents Sikhs as separatists as part of a larger conspiracy.
