Adilabad: The former Adilabad district has been severely impacted by heavy rains that struck various areas on Saturday, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue a red alert for Adilabad and Nirmal districts for Sunday. The IMD warns of continuous rainfall over the next two days in these regions.In response, district administrations are on high alert, bracing for potential emergencies. Meanwhile, an orange alert has been issued for Mancherial and Komaram Bheem Asifabad districts, signaling the likelihood of significant rainfall.In Mancherial district, a road in Nakkalapalli, Kotapalli mandal, was washed away by floodwaters, disrupting road connectivity to five villages. Due to heavy inflows, irrigation officials have taken precautionary measures at various projects. At the Komaram Bheem project, three gates were lifted to release water downstream, with the project recording an inflow of 3,200 cusecs and an outflow of 3,700 cusecs.Similarly, at the Yellampalli project, officials opened 20 gates to manage the floodwaters, discharging an outflow of 136,714 cusecs after receiving significant inflows. Additionally, the Gaddannavagu project has recorded inflows of 6,666 cusecs, further contributing to the challenging conditions in the region.
