Alok Raj, a 1989-batch IPS officer, has been appointed as the DGP. He will replace Rajwinder Singh Bhatti (1990-batch) who has been made CISF DG. Raj is currently serving as DG, Vigilance Investigation Bureau. The state home department said Raj has been given additional charge of DGP till further order. A panel of three IPS officers—Alok Raj, Shobha Ohatkar (1990-batch) and Vijay Kumar (1991-batch)—has been sent to UPSC for approval. Bhatti was appointed state police chief in 2022 by the Grand-alliance government by surpassing Raj, who was senior to the former.
