�Kamareddy: Kamareddy police arrested eight persons including two doctors for selling infants on Saturday.
Among the arrested were Dr Ittam Siddi Ramulu, Dr Ittam Praveen Kumar of a hospital in Kamareddy, hospital manager Uday Kiran, watchman Balraj, Lavanya, Balkishan, Devaiah and Bhupathi.
Kamareddy circle inspector Chandrasekhar Reddy said that Lavanya, who was eight months pregnant at that time, had married one Mahesh of Posanipet in February last.
She approached the hospital for an abortion but the doctors delivered the baby, a girl, and shifted her to a children’s hospital. Lavanya decided to sell the baby girl and approached middlemen.
With the help of doctors, she sold the baby to Bhupathi of Sircilla district. Mahesh, husband of the accused, noticed the suspicious activities and complained to child welfare officials. The baby girl was rescued and shifted to child welfare centre and accused arrested on Saturday.
