An Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer who demanded the dismissal of Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has been suspended, reports said.Balamurugan, who shot off a letter to to President Droupadi Murmu demanding Nirmala Sitharaman’s sacking was suspended on January 29, 2024.In his letter written on January 2, the IRS officer referred to the case of two Dalit farmers from Attur, Salem, being summoned by ED after they accused a local BJP leader of trying to illegally grab their land. Citing this, he alleged that the Finance Minister was using the ED.According to The Wire, Balamurugan, who was holding the post of Deputy Commissioner of Goods and Service Tax (GST) in Chennai, had said that Sitharaman had successfully converted the ED into a BJP policy enforcement directorate. In this regard, he had demanded the dismissal of the Union finance minister, whom he called “unfit to be the Finance Minister of India”.
